2. We are 100% locally owned and operated and have been local for nearly 100 years! Support your local economy. DO NOT use out of state based companies.
3. Every move is OWNER SUPERVISED. This is a huge advantage.
4. Highland Park Moving does not use "spot" or "day" labor. We have had the same crew for years. This, also, is an advantage you need.
5. Highland Park Moving has the lowest damage rate in the state. We are insured with Farm Bureau but have never had to file a claim. We are the most careful movers you will EVER use. We treat your home just like we treat your furniture and belongings. We cover floors...doors....stair railings, etc.
6. We have HUNDREDS of quality references. We will be adding testimonials to the site in the coming days.
7. Highland Park Moving provides a discount to those seniors moving into/out of retirement homes and assisted living. We give EXTRA care to seniors. It is never easy for our elders to downsize and re-locate. It's a sad time for everyone involved. Highland Park Moving makes it easier for them by being patient and comforting. We treat them like family!
8. We are polite, strong-backed gentlemen and we look at this as a workout....better than any over-priced membership at the gym! We WANT to do the hard work for you!
9. No job too small. Highland Park Moving will move one piece and NOT charge you a minimum. We will move anywhere in Iowa...and even coast to coast! We can load/un-load your rental truck. We also do "inside moves", where maybe you just want a file cabinet moved from the basement to the garage. Again, no minimum charge. We will move an office by itself or the entire business. Saturday moves are at the same rates as the weekday.
10. We can pack you as well as move you. We specialize in packing china, kitchens and curio/hutch items. We can pack it all!

Remember....it's not so much the hourly rate you need to be concerned with, it's the speed and efficiency of the movers you hire. A cheap rate with slow, un-supervised workers = no money saved and possible banged up furniture.

Hello friends, and thanks for checking out our website for information. Please remember to check with the Better Business Bureau regardless of who you use to move. There are a few "bad eggs" out there and they need to be avoided. You can trust us. Many of our clients are via word-of-mouth, which is as good as it gets. Please try to avoid using non-locally based moving companies. It does no good for the local economy, not to mention the effect it has on the local mom & pop shops. We provide better service than ANY of the corporate big shots. Use us once and it will all become clear. Also, call a local furniture repair store and ask what moving company they see the most of for damage repair. Our name will not be mentioned! Why? Because we care more than the others and we can't afford to be sloppy with moving skills. Being "insured" does not give us the right to bust stuff up.
Highland Park Moving started with the ORIGINAL brother moving team known as the SWANSON BROTHERS. They started the business with horse and cart back in 1913. Known as Highland Park Cartage through 2002, "Moving" was later inserted into the name. We are STILL Highland Park Cartage and most likley, in 2008, will return to the original name. I'm the 4th owner, and I carry the same work ethic with me into the jobs as the brothers did almost a century ago!
A huge mistake at Yellow Book has left us out of the phonebook for late 2007 and most of 2008. We are in the Dex book. We are also on YellowPages.com. After years of "word-of-mouth" advertising only, The Yellow Book mistake combined with corporate greed and "nasty" tactics from larger moving companies, has forced me to make a stand. First, I offer this website. I'm not much of a website designer, but I did it myself and cheaply. The main purpose of this site is to provide information. Look for newspaper ads and listen for radio spots that will be coming soon. This small, local mom and pop shop WILL survive the corporate beat-down, and will continue to make our claim as the #1 moving company in the state of Iowa.
